My Favorite Games and Games I’m Playing Right Now
Asheron’s Call
AC was my FIRST real video game, it was an open world MMORPG that released around the time of Everquest. This game was wild for its time, but its best feature was its Allegiance System, in my mind it was a great attempt at using human behavior to drive gameplay.
My mother, brother and I would all play together every night: hunting down powerful exotic quest items and forming fellowships with strangers from around the world.
Pokémon - Platinum Series
For me, Platinum felt like Pokémons first and only attempt to make a game catered to its original fanbase at the time (18-20 year olds). This game saw some of the most hardcore elements fleshed out, had a stronger focus on PvP play, and had a REAL PvE endgame.
I know its sacrilegious to say Silver/Gold arent the best Pokémon but this was one that I simply could not put down.
Destiny 2
I was always a very big fan of Bungie and the Halo series (in high school I flew to New York and Florida to compete in the early MLG gaming days for Halo 2/3). I took a break from first person shooters cause it was simply consuming too much of my life. I returned to the series when Destiny 2 launched and was promptly hooked. The fast paced aerial combat mixed with RPG customization captivated me from months.
League of Legends /
Team Fight Tactics
I have been playing League of Legends on-and-off since early season 2 (just missed that sweet sweet Bowser Rammus skin). However, TFT has actually saved my life during COVID. The autoBattler concept is not going away anytime soon and I feel like it has a lot of room for exponential growth and development.
I’m a Teemo main.
God of War
GoW was the first game to “WOW” me in a very long time. This was such an ambitious venture and really invigorated my love of games. The combat was tight and fast paced but you still felt like a behemoth smashing though mountains. Puzzles were intriguing and difficult, but not so strange and impossible you couldn’t figure it out. The visual are absolutely stunning, this game is just as enjoyable to watch as it is to play.
Temtem
Temtem is just what Ive been waiting for in a creature capture game. Its not perfect, and there are some design choices I would do differently but it is a really great mobile game. It’s meant to be played on PS4/5 and PC but you can launch and fully control the game though a Steam App on your phone. In my opinion this is the next evolution of creature collectors - it’s not the apex yet, but its a step in the right direction with its focus on end-game content, PvP competitive play, and Temtem customization.
The game is still only in early access and in the form there is hours and hours and hours of fulfilling and difficult content to play through. It also features metrovania style world building, so as you get new equipment you can revisit old areas to collect rarer and more powerful Temtem and items.
